Noises in the attic can come from several different types of animals. Critters just love to live in the attics of homes and the walls ceiling gaps crawl spaces etc. Bats in attics can make noises. Raccoons rats mice and squirrels all scratch.

Raccoons make certain attic noises. A large slow nocturnal animal you might just hear walking in the attic. One of the most obvious and distinct noises in the attic or within the home is chirping. You re most likely dealing with a nocturnal animal since you hear noises at night so it may not be squirrel.

Raccoons are capable of ripping shingles off and chewing holes in buildings. If you are hearing animal sounds in your attic at night it is most commonly a raccoon because they are nocturnal animals and thus most active at night. Slithering sounds is how my customers have described it to me. Most of the sound will be during the daytime since most birds are diurnal.

Sounds coming from your attic could be from a number of causes pipes settling wind but the most common cause is the presence of an animal or animals in the attic. By turning on bright lights and a radio you can make your attic an unpleasant environment to encourage raccoons to leave on their own. But you still don t know what type of animal or animals are up there. Mice and squirrels can be heard gnawing and moving throughout the attic.

Most animals scratch in the attic to clear out space for nesting or maybe to bury food. But attics are the favorite spot for wild animals. They can just somehow tell they have a snake up there. You may hear scratching or thumping or scittering or nuts rolling around or even vocal noises.

Flapping sounds and chirping. Raccoons can enter your attic through loose shingles and or openings the roof and eaves. The first indicator of an animal problem in the attic is the noise. Raccoons are often the loudest sound you will hear in your attic.
